Its a Wonderful Life!

Have you ever had a project that just unfolded beautifully, and it just made you so excited that it did? Well, this project was one of them! I am amazed how it turned out!

This project has been brewing in my head since before Christmas. I wanted it to be a part of my Christmas decorations, but then decided to make it a part of my everyday decor.
Let me give you some background information. Normally, every Friday morning it is "Cinnamon Roll Friday" at our house. Something quick, easy, and good to celebrate Friday! I have been collecting the silver tops of the icing containers from the Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls. I knew eventually something would come to mind, and it finally did.

Supplies:
  • 17-18 (we need one more Friday for this!) icing tops
  • Scrapbook paper
  • Cricut machine
  • Sure Cuts a Lot software (SCAL)
  • Cricut markers
  • Jute
  • Glue
  • Mini Clothespins
  • Staple gun (and maybe a strong husband or significant other to use their power on this)
  • 22" x 10" scrap piece of wood
Step 1:
Create 1.88 Circles in SCAL
Put your letters inside the circles. My font is Batik Regular.

Step 2:
Remove the circles temporarily

Change your blade in your Cricut to this ...

Cricut markers (My wonderful in laws gave me these for Christmas! They work great!)

Watch it work its magic

Go back add your blade back in and the circles on SCAL. Then delete the letters. Cut out your cirlces.

Step 3:
Get your icing tops ready. Once everything is cut out, I used spray glue to glue the circles to the tops.

Step 4:
Get your jute and mini clothespins

Step 5:
Using your staple gun staple the jute to the back of the board

Then add your cute letters with the mini clips and to get this:

There you have it! I love it, and am having trouble finding the perfect place in my house to hang it!

If you do not have a Cricut or Sure Cuts a Lot software, then you could probably print off letters from Word, trace the tops, and then cut out the circles.

  5. Haven, I am so honored and thrilled that you shared this at "A Little Birdie Told Me...." I'm such a fan of this project for the creativity, the love that went in to it, and the fabulous use of cinnamon roll frosting lids. A brilliant upcycle!
